New Delhi:New Delhi, June 17:As part ofthe nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting theStates and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In addition, theGovt. of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by theStates/UTs. Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy ofGovernment of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along withTest, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour.
Implementationof the Liberalized and Accelerated Phase-3 Strategy of Covid-19 Vaccination hasstarted from 1st May 2021.
Underthe Strategy, in every month 50% of the total Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL)cleared vaccine doses of any manufacturer would be procured by Govt. of India.It would continue to make these doses available to the State Govts totally freeof cost as was being done earlier.
Morethan 27.28 crore (27,28,31,900) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTsso far, through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through directstate procurement category.
Ofthis, the total consumption, including wastages is 25,10,03,417 doses (as perdata available at 8 AM today).
Morethan 2.18 crore (2,18,28,483) COVID Vaccine doses are still available with theStates/UTs to be administered.
Furthermore, morethan 56,70,350 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by theStates/UTs within the next 3 days.
